Here's what we've been up to...

Jody has been working with the Washington Small Business for Secure HealthCare Coalition (a project of Washington CAN!), for almost two years to help organize small businesses into a political tour de force. Go Jody Go! From testifying to lawmakers here in this Washington, to getting invited to chat it up - White House style - in THAT Washington, she's been working hard to get a public health care option on the table for ALL Americans.

She sums it up rather nicely like this:
“A public health insurance option would give us real choice and greater bargaining power, increase competition and drive down costs for everyone. Small businesses can create the jobs to help revitalize our economy. But we’ve got to get health care fixed. We need real health reform, and we need it now – this year.”

8/13 Jody and Ali are featured on the NBC Nightly News, along with our Ballard friends 'n' neighbors at Velouria and Sonic Boom!

7/31 - Jody is interviewed for NPR's Morning Edition by national correspondent Wendy Kauffman.

7/23 - Cupcake Royale, along With Stumptown, Fuel, Vivace, and Molly Moon's - starts stamping our coffee cups with the number to call Congress. That number is 877.264.4226

5/30 - Jody joins Senator Murray on stage to kick off the March for Health Care For All - Mother's Leading the Way. More than 5,000 people turned out for this event.

5/29 - Jody meets with Senator Patty Murray and Congressman Jim McDermott to continue spreading the good word on behalf of Washington small business owners.

5/27 - NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams sends Chief Science and Health Correspondent Robert Bazell to Cupcake Royale to chat with Jody about health care, small businesses, bicycles, and babies. Stay tuned to find out when it airs!

4/24 - Jody travels to the White House to meet with Nancy-Ann DeParle (Director of White House Office of Health Care Reform) and Larry Summers (Director of the White House's National Economic Council) to explain to them how a public health care option in this country would help ease the burden on American small businesses.
